I've always wanted to become more well-rounded and be able to form a one-man band.
I hope to get more experience at shooting and editing through this course.
So, here are my three goals for the Fundamentals of Convergence:
1. Being able to take decent photos
That's something I've been longing to do. I want to get familiarized with Canon camera and tripod, as well as editing software such as photoshop. I also want to improve my sense of aesthetic, to know what constitutes a good picture. To achieve that, I'm planning to go through some award-winning photo albums in J-library, learn from the masters.
2. Being able to tell a story in a multimedia way
I want to tell a story with more than one element. Besides learning how to write, I'd also like to lean the skills of taking good pictures, audios, and videos. Some stories are really better be told with image and sound. I really wish I could produce something as beautiful as the Firestorm story by the Guardian
3. Being able to make a music video
By getting more skilled in taking and editing audio/video, I'd like to be able to produce a slide show with music, or music video type of work. I could even try making promoting video for a movie or for the place I work. Even though this goal has a very loose tie to journalism, but it will fulfill my personal interest, and make the learning process more fun.
